Sir Edward Hales, 1st Baronet

"Here lyeth Sir Edward Hales of Tunstall in the County of Kent, Knight and Baronet who dyed the sixth of October 1654 in the seaventyeight yeare of his age" Edward Hales 1st baronet, served in several parliaments, and took part with those who raised the rebellion against Charles I;

He married firstly Deborah, daughter and heir of Martin Harlakenden esq., and had issue,

• 1. Sir John, knight, who married Christian daughter of the above sir James Cromer, who died in his father's life-time, 1639 leaving son Sir Edward Hales 2nd baronet.
• 2. Edward, of Chilson, Kent,
• 3. Samuel; )
• 4. Thomas,) both died. without issue.

Sir Edward married secondly Martha, daughter of Sir Mathew Carew, widow of sir James Cromer, by whom he had no issue.
