About Sir Guy Theophilus Halswell Campbell, 5th Baronet
Colonel Sir Guy Theophilus Halswell Campbell, 5th Bt. was born on 18 January 1910. He was the son of Sir Guy Colin Campbell, 4th Bt. and Mary Arabella Swinnerton Kemeys-Tynte. He married Elizabeth Sandra Holton, daughter of Frederick Holton, on 17 August 1956. He died on 19 July 1993 at age 83.
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He was educated at St. Andrews University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland. He was commanding officer of the 2nd/7th and 7th Nuba Battalions, Camel Corps. He fought in the Second World War, where he was wounded. He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1941. He gained the rank of Colonel in the 60th Rifles. He was commanding officer of the Kenya Regiment between 1952 and 1956. He fought in the Kenyan Campaign between 1952 and 1956, against the Mau Maus. He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1954. He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Campbell, of St. Cross Mede, Hampshire [U.K., 1815] on 2 October 1960.
