“ Henry's will was proven in Worcestershire on July 22 , 1681, left his entire estate to his wife and no mention was made of children. Neither does his will state that he was without issue. However, two sources of British genealogy mean that Henry and his wife had issue but the children were not named.

NOTES:

Henry and Elizabeth Worrell Langston lived in London, England. Henry was an apprentice grocer; he was issued a membership in the London Grocers at the age of twenty-five. The great London fire of 1666 nearly leveled the city, and Henry and Elizabeth left London permanently and lived on their Sedgeborough estate in Worcester County.

As a point of interest, Henry Langston's third son Anthony was an ensign in Prince Maurice's Regiment. He went to Virginia around 1648 and was granted 1,000 acres on the south side of the York River in New Kent County on Apr. 26, 1653. On Sept. 26 of that same year, he was granted 1,303 acres on the north side of the York River in Gloucester County.

Anthony returned to England in 1662. Soon afterward, he killed a man in a brawl. He was pardoned and later became a captain in the Royal Navy. His letters on the conditions in Virginia and especially the need for ironworks to diversify Virginia's economy are in the Egerton MSS, British Museum. Anthony is also mentioned and quoted in the book A History of the South, Vol.1; The Southern Colonies in the Seventeenth Century 1607-1689 by Wesley Frank Craven.
