"James Livingston, of Westquarter, co. Stirling yr s. of the Hon. Sir William Livingston, of Culter (5th and yst s. of William, 6th Lord Livingston [S.]), by Helen, da. of Alexander Livingston, and grand daughter and heir (8 July 1630) of Robert Livingston, of Westquarter, suc. his elder br., Sir William Livingston in the estate of Westquarter as heir male and was cr. a Baronet [S.] as above by royal warrant, dat. at Kensington 30 May 1699, with rem. "to his eldest son and his aires male successive. He m. (contract 28 June 1690) Mary widow of Alexander (Livingston), 2d Earl of Calendar [S.], 3d da. of William (Hamilton), 2nd Duke of Hamilton [S.], by Elizabeth, da. and coheir of James (Maxwell), 1st Earl of Dirletoun [S.]. He d. s.p., at Edinburgh, 27 Nov 1701, when the Baronetcy became dormant for about 70 years. He left the estate of Westquarter to his widow, who m. (as her 3d husband and his 2d wife) James (Ogilvy), 3d Earl of Findlater [S.], who d, 1711, and d. s.p.m. 1705, before Aug., having entailed it on her said 2d husband for life, and, after his death, on the relatives of her 1st husband."
