About Sir John Fettiplace, 1st Baronet of Childrey
Baptised at St Dunstan in the East, London on 19 November 1623, John Fettiplace was the son of Edward Fettiplace [1] and his wife, Anne Cox. [2]
His first wife was Anne Wenman, daughter of Francis Wenman and his wife, Anne Sandys, who he married at Carswell in Oxfordshire on 13 January 1651. John was created Baronet Fettiplace of Childrey on 30 March 1661.
In June 1672 he took a second wife, Susanna Cook daughter of Thomas Cook of Staunton in Warwickshire and widow of ][[Bathurst-204[|Lawrence Bathurst of Lechlade. after only two months of marriage John died very suddenly on 24 September 1672 3 and was buried in Swinbrook Church. His unexpected death raised the suspicion that he had been poisoned by Susanna.
