"Sir John Gordon, Baronet [S. 1704], of Invergordon, 1st s. and h., suc. to the Baronetcy, 9 June 1742 ; was M.P. for Cromartyshire, 30 Dec. 1742 to 1747 and 1754-61. He registered arms in the Lyon office 1756. He m. (— ). She d. 22 Aug. 1775. He d. s.p. 25 May 1783, leaving his estates to John Mackenzie, styled Lord Macleod, b. of his sister Isabel, Countess of Cromarty [S.]."
