"Sir John Menzies, Baronet [S. 1665], of Castle Menzies, cousin and heir male, being only s. and h. of James Menzies, of Edinburgh, Merchant, by Janet, da. of ( — ) Stevenson, which James was s. of Capt. James Menzies, of Comrie, who was 2d s. of the 1st Baronet. He suc. to the Baronetcy, 4 Sep. 1786. He m. 4 March 1797, at St. Geo. Han. sq., Charlotte, 1st da. of John (Murray),. 4th Duke of Atholl [S.], by his 1st wife, Jean, da. of Charles Schaw (Cathcart), 9th Lord Cathcart [S.]. He d. s.p. at Castle Menzies, 26 March 1800. Will pr. July 1800. His widow, who was b. in Grosvenor place, Midx., 23 Oct. and bap. 19 Nov. 1775, m. 28 May 1801, Admiral Sir Adam Drummond, K.C. 3., who d. 3 May 1849, aged 78. She d. in London, 31 May 1832."
