About Sir John Warburton, Kt.

Knighted (no particular reason given) on or about Sept. 30, 1497.

Sir John Warburton, knight of Arley, served as a one Knight of the Body to his late majesty, King Henry vii. Following his brilliant service under the great Tudor Monarch, he was chosen Seneschal of Halton, in addition to his deliverance of social justice throughout the abodes of Cheshire by a patent affording commission by the Great Seal. During his tenure as Seneschal of Halton, Sir Warburton won the affection of her ladyship, the honorable Jane Ann, daughter of Sir William Stanley, knight & Sheriff of Lancaster and his wife, the Lady Elizabeth Hopkins, sole heiress of Hopton Castle. The couple married about 1487 and Ormerod procures 8 children yielded from said union.
