Sir Peter Walter Farquhar, 6th Baronet, DSO, OBE

Sir Peter Walter Farquhar, 6th Bt. was born on 8 October 1904. He was the son of Sir Walter Randolph FitzRoy Farquhar, 5th Bt. and Violet Maud Corkran. He married Elizabeth Evelyn Hurt, daughter of Lt.-Col. Francis Cecil Albert Hurt, on 23 June 1937. He died in 1986.

He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England. He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Farquhar [G.B., 1796] in 1918.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 16th/5th Lancers in the Second World War in the service of the where he was twice wounded. He was decorated with the award of the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) (and bar (1944)) in 1942. He was commander of the 3rd Hussars between 1942 and 1944. He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.). He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dorset in 1955.
