Biographical Summary

"Sir Ralph William Anstruther, Baronet [S 1694], of Balcaskie and Braemore, 1st son and heir, born 5 July 1858, and baptised at Bechenham; educated at Eton; sometime (1877-90) in the Royal Engineers, serving in the Egyptian campaign, 1883, and in the Bechuanaland expedition, 1885; succeeded to the Baronetcy, 21 July 1886; Lieut-Col. Com. 6th Fifeshire Vol. Batt. Royal Highlanders. He married 5 August 1885, at St Mark's, North Audley Street, Mildred Marriet, daughter of Edward Hussey, of Scotney Castle, Sussex, and of Lamberhurst, Kent, by Henrietta Sarah, daughter of the Hon. Robert Henry Clive, and Harriett, suo jure Baroness Windsor. She was born 6 June 1863, and baptized at Lamberhurst."
