Sir Richard Cust, 1st Bt. was baptised on 23 June 1622 at Boston, Lincolnshire, England.2 He was the son of Samuel Cust and Ann Burrell. He married Beatrice Pury, daughter of William Pury and Elizabeth Millett, on 29 December 1644.1 He died on 30 August 1700 at age 78.1 He was buried on 6 September 1700 at St. George's Church, Stamford, Lincolnshire, England.3 His will was probated on 2 December 1700.3
He was also known as Sir Richard Cust.4 He was admitted to Inner Temple on 18 February 1640/41.2 He gained the rank of Captain on 31 December 1642 in the service of the trained bands in the Parliament Army.2 He was a practising barrister on 5 February 1649/50.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lincolnshire in 1653.1 He was created 1st Baronet Cust, of Stamford, co. Lincoln [England] on 29 September 1677.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Stamford between 1679 and 1681.5 His last will was dated 26 April 1699.
