About Sir Robert Dickson of Sornbegg, Baronet
Biographical Summary
"Sir Robert Dickson, Baronet [S. 1695], of Inveresk, only s. and h., bap. 12 Nov. 1694, suc. to the Baronetcy in Oct. 1711 and had spec, service to his father in Inveresk, Corstorphine, Smeaton,. etc., 20 April 1712. In 1713, however, he sold Inveresk and most of his other estates, being styled latterly "of Carberry"; was Inspector General of Salt duties at an annual salary of £130 ; was a Councillor of Musselburgh till his death in 1760. He m. ( — ) da. of (— ) Douglas, of Dornock, co. Dumfries. He d. s.p.m.s., 1 Feb. 1760, at Musselburgh, aged 65, when the Baronetcy became extinct or dormant."
