Biographical Summary
"Sir Thomas Calder, Baronet [S. 1686], 1st s. and h., b. 6 June 1682, at Muirton ; suc. to the Baronetcy, but to none of the estates, in 1711 ; was implicated in the Jacobite rising of 1715, but, though imprisoned, was never attainted. He m. 7 Dec. 1711, at Edinburgh (contract 28 and 31 March 1712), Christian, da. of Sir John Scott, 1st Baronet [S. 1671], of Ancrum, by his 2d wife, Elizabeth, da. of Sir William Bennett, Baronet [S. 1670], of Grubet. She, who was 6. at Ancrum, 16 March 1688, and by whom he had twelve children, d. at Elgin 1743, and was bur. there. He d. at Edinburgh, and was bur. in Canongate there 31 Jan. 1760, in his 78th year."
