Biographical Summary

"Sir Thomas Gibson-Carmichael, Baronet [S. 1702], of Castle Craig aforesaid, br. of the half blood and h., being s. of the 7th Baronet by his 2d wife ; b. 27 Oct. 1817 ; entered the Royal Navy, 1832 ; served at the 1st and 2d capture of Canton, at Amoy and at Chinghae ; Commander R.N., 1846 ; suc. to the Baronetcy, 8 April 1850. He m. 17 Oct. 1849, Frances Marianne, da. of the Rev. Joseph Story, of Bingfield, co. Cavan. He d. s.p. 30 Dec. 1855, at Civita Vecchia, Italy, aged 38. His widow d. 1 Sep. 1892, aged 69."
