  • Venables died on 19 duly 1580. His eldest son Thomas, who was 38 when he succeeded to the estates, married as his first wife a daughter of Sir William Brereton I, and his second son, Anthony, also married into the family. A daughter married another Cheshire gentleman, Peter, son and heir of Sir Piers Legh of Lyme.3

  • Peter Venables (22 April 1604 – 13 February 1669 ) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1640 and 1669. He supported the Royalist cause in the English Civil War. [1]
  • Venables was the son of Thomas Venables, baron of Kinderton, and his wife Anne Gargreave, daughter of Sir Cotton Gargreave of Nostoll, Yorkshire. He was High Sheriff of Cheshire in 1634.[2]
  • In November 1640, Venables was elected Member of Parliament for Cheshire in the Long Parliament.[3] He supported the King in the Civil War and was disabled from sitting on 22 January 1644.
  • In 1661, Venables was elected MP for Cheshire in the Cavalier Parliament and held the seat until his death.[4]
  • Venables died at the age of 64.
  • Venables married firstly Mary Wilbraham, daughter of Sir Richard Wilbraham of Woodhey and secondly Frances Cholmondeley sister of Sir Robert Cholmondeley.[2]
