Sir William Carmichael-Baillie of Bonnington, 5th Baronet

Biographical Summary

"Sir William Carmichael-Baillie, Baronet [S. 1676?], of Bonington, only s. and h. ; suc. to the Baronetcy, 16 July 1727 ; was served heir special of his father, 7 Feb. 1732, and again 15 Feb. 1733, in the Baronies of Thankerton, Blackburn, co. Linlithgow, Craigend, co. Fife, etc. He appears to have assumed his mother's surname in expectation of inheriting the Baillie estates. He d., however, in her lifetime, unm., July 1738, when the Baronetcy became extinct or dormant."
