In 1860, Seselja (Cecelia, in America) is the first known ancestor to come to America following her husband's death. She and four of her children (Jens 29, Metta Kristine 25, Eli 23, and Rasmus 11) registered at the Sogndal church that they were leaving for America.
They landed in Quebec and from there, by boat, through the Great Lakes to Milwaukee and Madison Wisconsin and finally to Goodhue county.
In a family bible Rasmus notes that they came to Goodhue County in 1860, and that he started living on the Wickum farm in 1864.
