About Socorro Ramos
Socorro and her husband put up National Bookstore in 1942 on Rizal Avenue in Manila. In 2004, she was named Woman Entrepreneur of the Year of the Philippines. Virgie Ramos, who brought in Sanrio (via Gift Gate) and Swatch into the Philippines, is her daughter-in-law. Her brother Manuel Cancio and his wife Juana put up Goodwill Bookstore.
