Sophia (43), and her sister, Sylvia Syster (31), were found murdered inside the Eatsumore Take-Aways in Main Road, Malmesbury, on Tuesday 17th December 2013. They had both been bludgeoned to death with a hammer. Sophia had been working, and living, there for around fifteen months, while sometimes Sylvia slept on the streets.
The murderers had gained entry through the ceiling. One of the sisters was found tied-up, naked on the floor, the other sister was partially hidden under a bed. It was not known if they had been raped.
Anton Blom, the take-away owner, unlocked the shop at 06h35, and found one of the ladies on the floor in the bedroom. The place had been ransacked. He called the police, who then found the other sister under the bed.
Charney Syster, Sophia’s daughter, said the family was in deep shock. “We still have to see the bodies, they have not completed the autopsies yet,” she said. The last time she had seen her mother was on Saturday when she had told her that she would be going to the beach on Sunday.
Police spokesman Captain FC van Wyk said no arrests had yet been made.
