Philadelphia Inquirer, 14 Dec 1900

Owing to the sudden death in Cincinnati of Mrs. Sophia S. Plaut, the Globe clothing store, on Chestnut street above Ninth, of which her son, Isaac Plaut, is the senior member, was closed on Wednesday and Thursday. Immediately on receipt of the telegram announcing Mrs. Plaut's death her son left for Cincinnati.

Mrs. Plaut was 80 years old and was the mother of twelve children, six boys and six girls. With the exception of Isaac Plaut they all reside in Cincinnati. Mrs. Plaut was widely known in her native town for her individual philanthropic work and her connection with many charities. Her interment will take place at Lick Run Cemetery.
