About Stacy Harrison Simcox
The Tomahawk, Wednesday, January 4, 1967Villar Mary Simcox, age 81 of Shouns (Forge Creek) died unexpectedly at 4 p.m. Friday from an apparent heart attack at the home of a son W. Burl Simcox at Shouns. Mrs. Simcox was a native of Ashe County, N.C. but had made her home in Johnson County for many years. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nancy Osborne Rash, and the widow of the late Stacy H. Simcox. She was a member of Hammons Chapel Christian Church. Survivors are one son, W. Burl Simcox, Shouns; three daughters, Mrs. Hettie Nichols, Eugene, Ore, Mrs. Nannie Dowell, Flint, Mich. and Mrs. Gladys Proffitt, Perryville, Md.; a brother, Amos Rash, Shouns; a sister, Mrs. Ora Head, Shouns; also 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from Hammons Chapel Christian Church Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Erby Messimer officiating. Burial was in the Dunn Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ray Hammons, Earl Farmer, Maurice Hall, Delmer Tedder, Edgar Farmer, and Lynn Hammons. Flowerbearers[sic] were ladies of the church and neighbors. Lewis Gentry in charge.
