cf. extract from memoirs written by Friedrich "Fritz" GUTH (in family archives - not yet fully examined):
"When uncle Josef died, he left one son, Hugo Guth, who came to live with my family. He served as a volunteer recruit with a Jäger batallion. The military life - easy-going and without responsibilities - appealed to him so much that he made it his career. This led to him becoming an officer in the imperial Landwehr and being stationed for most of his life in Galicia. In Neu-Sandez, at the northern end of the Tatra, he met his future wife, the daughter of a wealthy German settler. Steffi Guth died in Vienna in 1971, at age ninety. Hugo Guth had resigned from the Landwehr infantry before 1914, and became an innkeeper in Andritz, near Graz. I visited him there after World War I. He sold the Andritz property and moved to Vienna, where he bought an apartment building on Schönbrunnerstrasse. His avocation was photography. He became a partner of a photographic studio, which he subsequently took over. His daughter Ilse became a professional photographer; her shop was on Martinsstrasse in Vienna. His son Roderich (Rodi) worked in a bank after 1919, then became a veterinarian and lived in Ober-Hollenstein, Lower-Austria, where he is now retired."
