Note: 1. Stephen and his wife, Elizabeth Embree, were first cousins---Stephen's mother, Elizabeth Burris, and Elizabeth's mother, Mildred Burris, were sisters. 2. Stephen and Elizabeth Brockman were listed as being members of the Old Friendship Baptist Church located on Constant's Fork of Strode's Creek on the main road leading from Winchester, KY to Strode's Station, KY in Clark county, Kentucky. The membership lists include the (Kathryn Owen's book) years 1812-1825. On page 58 of the above mentioned book there is a mention of the Old Friendship Church Graveyard as being located in the NW part of the Winchester Cemetery.

4. In 1808, Stephen Brockman purchased 50 acres from Thomas Embree for 120 pounds of Kentucky money. This land was sold on 19 Mar 1810 to Robert Elkins for $500. Stephen Brockman probably lived on this land for two years. 5. 6 May 1810, Stephen Brockman purchased 200 acres in Christian co., KY for $500 from Joshua Gates (Christian co., KY Deed Bk C:41), Pamunkey Neigh. p. 213. 26 Jun 1812, Green co., KY Deed Book 6:327-328: Stephen Brockman of Christian co., KY to Thomas Pitman of Mercer co., KY, on 5 Aug 1783, John Brockman, father of Stephen Brockman, executed to Wm. Pitman of Lincoln co., KY a bond which he bound himself under a penalty to make to said Pitman a good title to one half of a tract of 3,796 acres which is located by Pitman for Brockman. Thomas Pitman is not holding the same. John Brockman appointed his son, Stephen, to be his attorney- in-fact in KY, bearing the date of 20 Dec 1802. Stephen now conveys 2,375 acres to Pitman which is one-half of the north-west side of Brush creek. Signed, Stephen Brockman, 20 Jun 1812. 6. 12 Feb 1813, Stephen and Elizabeth Brockman sold land on the waters of the west fork of the Red River to Joshua Brockman for $1200 (Christian co., KY; Deed Bk D:131), Pamunkey Neigh. p. 224. 7. 11 Mar 1815 he purchased 115 acres on Four Mile Creek from James Whitham for $850. He probably lived here for 2 1/2 years because this property was sold to John Owens on 16 Oct 1817 for $1200. 8. On 15 Oct 1817, Stephen Brockman must have lived on land he purchased from William M. Booker, 185 acres for $2775. On 30 Apr 1821 he had a mortgage on this land for $1000 but this was paid off before he sold the land in 1827. The 185 acre tract was "on the waters of Two Mile Creek" and it was surrounded by land owned by Thomas Burris, Dillard Collins, the heirs of Henry Hucles (?) and John Owens. 9. At different times Stephen Brockman either purchased land or inherited it through his wife and sold the land for a profit. On 29 Apr 1816 he bought 100 acres from Daniel Spur for $500 and then sold it on 29 Aug 1816 to David Hampton for $700. In 1824 he inherited land from Milded Embree and sold it to John W. Rawlings of Howard co., MO for $200. 10. The 185 acre piece of land Stephen Brockman had purchased in 1817 was not sold for 10 1/2 years; this is where he must have lived for this period of time. On 25 Apr 1827 he sold this land for $2450 to Colly B. Quisenberry of Fayette co., KY. Seven months later he was in Randolph co., MO because on 29 Dec 1827 he appointed David Hanson of Clark co., as his power of attorney in KY.
