About Stephen Christian Schilling
Stephen was a tinsmith by trade. He once worked in a store that was located where the Sigourney News Review is located now (in Sigourney, Iowa).
He homesteaded 40 acres of land in Keokuk County, Iowa in the early 1850s.
Stephen and Lisbeth began their life together in a log cabin. In December 1850, they moved to a log house on the site where they later built another home.
