Stephen Matthew Yablonsky

Steve, was born in Austria-Hungary in1893 Dec 25 premature.He was baptized the very next day on the Feast of Stephen hence forth his name. He has his dads middle name Matthew. He came to this country when he was 6 yrs old. His dad was a coal miner and was killed in the Forest Hill Mine of electrocution. The lamp on his hardhat touched the bare wires the ran down the side of the mine. His mother Johanna had died in child birth about a year before. He was left to raise 6 brothers and sisters alone at the age of 14. He did this working in the coal mine that killed his dad. When the mines were shut down and the coal and iron police patroled the mines he went to work at the galvanize plant in Mckeesport. then on to United States Steel in Mckeesport where he retired.He lived to be 82 years old
