About Stephen Henry Weedon
From the obituary of Stephen Henry Weedon - Engineer in Charge of Drainage
The Death Occurred of Mr Stephen Henry Weedon, Civil Engineer, at the Age of 85 Years. He was born at Temple Court, Bisham, Berwickshire, England and arrived in Australia in 1866 Queensland, Brisbane.
Mr Weedon had a varied experience. In 1875 he Overland and 1200 head of cattle from the Logan River to Blacktown Station on the Burdekin River. Later he studied surveying with his brother, John Weedon, MICE and was engaged in a survey of the Queensland Railway from Warwick's to Stanthorpe.
He later built several other runaways in Queensland before joining up with the New South Wales Public Works Department. He supervised installation of the water supply for Sydney from Cordeaux River, and the water supplies of several of the personal country towns. He is survived by three sons, all who fought in the Great War.
