About Styne Robertse Couwenhoven
"Traditionally, the Dutch used only patronymic names, i.e. Gerrit Janse, etc. Surnames were not important to them because there were usually not enough repeated names in the general population that persons could be confused. The Dutch also derived both male and female middle names by using the first name of the father, followed by "se" or "sen." So, although we do not know the maiden name of Gerrit Janse's wife, we at least know that her father's first name was Robert. Names were spelled differently, at the whim of the recorder."

notes
From Gezinus Van Weert June 2018
I assumed that my Sara van Kouwenhoven might be a granddaughter of Styne Sara Roberts, or named after her. There are not too many Sara's van Kouwenhoven. William Graham(e) and her had four children baptized in the Dinther, North Brabant, Nederduits (Dutch) Reformed church 1701 -1710,a minuscule congregation in a Roman Catholic domain. I can send you the notations, need an e-mail address for that. I also have the notarial deed of their inheritance distribution, about 1744. William had connections with the Scottish Regiment stationed in nearby Den Bosch and a function in the town's government. The last name Graham(e) may have become Gram, with time.
I can't find a Sara Graham / van Kouwenhoven on the Geni Web site and see no use in posting this on the Styne Sara Roberts site - somebody has to find a connection.
My interest in the van Kouwenhoven's comes from a possible Conover / van Weert Y-dna link. If not for that, the information on this Sara would not have been found, it's not computer searchable.
