About Susan Pocahontas Grinstead (Sacra) (1834-1912)
Susan Virginia Pocahontas Sacra was born in Hendricks County, IN on September 2 1829, the only daughter of Mary D. (Bacon) and Walker Sacra, who had moved there from Franklin County, KY in 1829. Susan never liked the name Pocahontas and ony admitted to the name in her later years. The "History of Henry County, MO" says Susan Sacra attended school in Franklin County, KY with Senator George G. Susan Sacra married George Washington Grinstead in Pettis County, MO on January 24, 1854. His uncle, the Rev. John DeJarnette, conducted the ceremony. She lived alone near Windsor, MO, close to her children. She died in Windsor, MO on June 6, 1912.
Sacra and George had 10 children.
