MRS. SUSAN DAVIS DEAD
SISTER OF THE LATE SENATOR WILLIAM SHARON PASSES AWAY.

SAN JOSE, April 13. - Mrs. Susan Kirk Davis, wife(sic) of the late Senator William Sharon of Nevada, died yesterday at her home in this city after an illness of a week. She was one of the best known women in this section and had hosts of friends in San Francisco, where two of her daughters, Mrs. John C. Kirkpatrick and Mrs. James M. Allen, reside. In the early days of mining on the Comstock, Mrs. Davis lived in Virginia, Nev. She profited by investments in mining stock, and, accumulating a considerable fortune, she moved to this city, where she has resided for thirty years.
Mrs. Davis was a native of Smithfield, O., and was 82 years of age. In addition to the daughters mentioned, her other children are Mrs. Charles McCoy of Oakland, Herbert Davis of Australia, William Davis and Mrs. George Hildreth, of this city.
