Sylvia Lorraine Beattie

Sylvia Lorraine Beattie passed away peacefully on October 12, 2021, at the age of 80 years at the Sunset Drive Senior Community in Mandan, North Dakota. Burial will be in the Rolette Community Cemetery, Rolette, North Dakota.

Sylvia was born to Leonard and Cecilia (Legreid) Pederson on February 4, 1941, on a farmstead in Griggs County, North Dakota.

She attended school in Hannaford, North Dakota which is where she met the love of her life Larry Beattie. They were married on May 7, 1961, at the First Lutheran Church in Hannaford, North Dakota. They moved around for a few years due to Larry’s tree service employment, but finally settled in Rolette, North Dakota in 1970 where they expanded and raised their family. They proudly purchased the local Tastee Freez in 1978 and successfully ran their business for 20 years.

Sylvia was known by all to be a busy, hardworking woman. She had a big heart and was such a giving soul. She crocheted countless blankets, pillows, and scarves, made many tie-blankets, and flipped many hamburgers. She was also the queen of “cat-naps,” which is what kept her going during her 12-13 hour shifts at the Tastee-Freez for all those years.

She enjoyed her Friday night bowling league and all the friends they made along the way. She was a jack of all trades and worked multiple different jobs in her lifetime. She enjoyed assisting with quilting and loved canning while having a glass or two of wine. Her beautiful smile was contagious and will be missed by all.

She will be forever cherished and remembered by her children Larry Jr. (Karen) Beattie, Lee (Jan) Beattie, Lowell Beattie, Laurie (Brian) Crosby, Lynn (Jesse) Klein and (Denise) Beattie.

And thirteen grandchildren Lindsey, Kristi, Kacie (Skylar), Morgan (Jonathan), Jordan, Nichole, Matthew, Zachary, Taylor (Karl), Jacob, Tristan, Marlee and Trevor; and six great-grandchildren Brianna, Leah, Morgan, Jakson, Ryder and Auggie.

Sylvia will be missed by her siblings, Doris (Dave), Edward (Sharon), Jeanette and Joyce (Clay); as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband Larry, brothers Howard and Herman, sisters Myrtle and Clarice, nephews Ernie, John and Keith, and her parents, Leonard and Cecilia Pederson.
