December 1948: Announces engagement to Robert Victor Hemblys Scales, British Military Attache to the UK Embassy in Canberra (actually MI5 station chief in Australia)

Worked on behalf of her father, the Dutch Ambassador to Australia to gather Intelligence during the negotiations in Australia for Indonesian independence.
