About Thadeus James Albiston
Thadeus James Jim Albiston, 75, of Idaho Falls, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001 at his home of cancer. He had been under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
He was born Feb. 16, 1925, the fifth of nine children to Wilford James Albiston and Mary Edith Olsen Albiston in College Ward, Utah. He grew up on a dairy farm south of Logan and attended school in College Ward and South Cache. Her served in the Army on the European front during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Following the war, he moved to Victor, Idaho, where he worked in the Fox Canyon rock quarry. On Nov. 12, 1946, he married Nola Cherry. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 29, 1999. They farmed and raised sheep on a ranch north of Victor until 1956. He also helped build the Palisades Dam and worked on road construction as a mechanic until the family moved to Lincoln in 1963. He worked for the Utah and Idaho (U&I) sugar factory until it closed in 1979 and then worked with the Bonneville County road and bridge department until he retired in 1987.
His hobbies included fishing and cutting firewood. He raised a beautiful vegetable garden every year and shared it with many friends and neighbors. He loved to invent and build useful tools and machines.
