Thelma Hoffman Fishback Cornwell

Thelma B. Cornwell, 78, of Madison, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at the Autumn Care Nursing Home.

Born January 10, 1926 in Madison, she was the daughter of the late Robert G. and Burnice Rosser Blankenbaker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jerome Cornwell and her younger sister, Bobby Jane Dodson.

She was a retired employee of the Madison IGA and a lifetime member of the Hebron Lutheran Church. She will be remembered for all her hospitality and generosity she gave to her many friends and elderly in the community in which she lived.

She is survived by one son, Steven S. Hoffman and his wife, Charlotte of Madison; one daughter, Nancy F. Linke and her husband, Don of Charlottesville; three granddaughters, Heidi Lohr and Heather Manuel, both of Madison, and Megan Ann Seale of Charlottesville; five great-grandchildren, Shelby Smith, Kaelen and Anysley Lohr, and Joseph and Jacob Manuel, all of Madison; one niece, Shelia Neufeld and her husband, Garry of Charleston, S.C.; one nephew, Kevin Dodson and his wife, Cheryl of Madison; two great-nephews and one great-niece; special friends, Shirley Fishback, Lois Fishback, Florence Clore, Margaret Berrey and the Fact Finders Club and a host of friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m. at the Hebron Lutheran Church Cemetery with Pastor Jim Larsen officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, at Preddy Funeral Home in Madison.

The family would like to thank the staff of Autumn Care Nursing Home for their compassion, support and excellent care.
