Theodore Emmanuel Lindstrom

Uncle Ted was reared by his Grandmother Grill. No knowledge of his real parents though. I'm sure his daughters may know. He came from St. Paul, MN. Uncle Ted was a baseball player. He met my Aunt Mable after moving to Mitchell. When he lived in Mitchell he lived at 200 East 10th Avenue, most of his life, the home place where all the girls were reared. He was a plumber for Gus Swanson Plumbing. He died rather young from Lou Gehrigs Disease, I think it was. His wife stayed in the home place until she had to leave. Aunt Mable died from cancer, Malinoma, about 1979.

Ruth married Dave Leggett, a graduate of DWU and later earned an engineering degree, probably from a school in California, as that is where they went to live after marriage. He designed shopping malls, etc. They had one daughter, Linda who married and has two children.

Helen married Giff Cunningham, a fellow classmate from Mitchell graduating in about 1940 and 1941 from Mitchell High School. He was in the Coast Guard, I think. They lived in Mitchell the earlier part of their married life, Giff worked for Green Stamp progam and also Bunn Coffee Mill. Helen and Giff moved to Colorado around 1987 and lived there managing an apartment complex. Giff died in 1999 and a few years later Helen moved back to Mitchell where she and Giff had planned on returning to live when he died. Helen is living in an assisted living home now.

They had one daughter, Barbara (Cunningham) Opp. Barb graduated from USD with a teacher's degree. She and Dick Opp had two boys, Michael and Steven. They are living in Greeley, CO. now.

Evelyn Lindstrom married Dave Rosner, a boy from Philadelphia, PA. He became an orthodonist and worked for the NASA program. Wrote a lot of articles for medical journals. They lived in Indianatlantic, FL. Evy and Dave had two children. Alan, a son who died quite a few years ago. Jennifer who is married and lives in Philly and Montana during summer months of the year. Evy and Dave are living in an assisted living center now. Health is poor.

Doris Lindstrom married Gene O'Brien and had three boys. Then she married a Rush and had a daughter, Debbie Rush (O'Brien). Debbie was born in Minneapolis, MN. She is married and living in the Denver area now. Doris died a few years ago. Debbie has a son, Mitchell.

Irene (Rene) Lindstrom married Dale Steichen from the Woonsocket, SD area. They migrated to the Greeley, CO. area where Dale was an accountant. He died in 2007. They had two sons, Ted Steichen and John Steichen. Rene still lives in Greeley. John and wife have one son, Laird aand n ow a daughter, born Oct. , 2009. Ted is engaged to be married soon. He works for an oil company and lives in Washington, DC.

I wish some of the family could edit this as this is just my recollection and may not be accurate.

Uncle Ted had a sister who lived in SanFrancisco at one time so the girls probably have cousins who are living in that area now. Rene would have a lot more info about their grandmother on her Dad's side and other relatives.

Ted and Mable Lindstrom are buried in Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell, SD.

Giff Cunningham is buried in the Serviceman's Cemetery in Mitchell, SD. Helen is living at Prairie Crossing in Mitchell, SD.
