About Theodore Fox
He was an Ironmaster at Neath Abbey Ironworks, Wales. He was a Partner in the Neath Abbey Coal Company before 1856 in Neath Abbey, Glamorgan. He was an Ironmaster. Head, Fox & Co., Newport Rolling Mills in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. At some later stage, the partnership was enlarged to include (I think) Henry Head (Jerry H's brother) and Thomas Wrightson. This partnership was, I feel sure, the forerunner in name of that which eventually became Head Wrightson & Co., Ltd. In all this, Joseph Whitwell Pease appears to have acted in the role of chief negotiator in drawing up the deed of partnership, and also over the matter of finding a site for the rolling mills, strongly urging the partners to set up their works at Newport, Middlesbrough, and which they did. Fox Head & Co., hit a bad patch (as did most) during the depression of the late 1870's and 80's and it was somewhere about that time, that Theodore Fox by then at Saltburn and very much out of pocket, packed his bags and went down to end his days at Sutton, Surrey where he died in 1899. Notes: Sir Joseph Gurney Pease Bt. He was a JP for the North Riding of Yorkshire. He lived at Bryn y Mor in Saltburn, Yorkshire. He lived at Sutton, Surrey.
