About Thomas Baldwin

THOMAS3, Thomas2, John1 (of Norwich)

Thomas Baldwin, son of Thomas Baldwin and Abigail Lay,was b. in Norwich, Ct., June 15,1701. He m. with ANNA BINGHAM on May 5,1730, and settled in that part of Norwich now known as Bozrah.

Children were: Anna (1731; m. Bentley), Abigail (1732; m. John Hough), Thomas (1734), Jemima (1736; m. Capt David Hough), Eunice (1738; m. Isham), Lydia (1741; m. Elijah Huntington), Jabez (1743), and Eliphlet (1747).

Thomas' wife survived him, and m. 2nd Oct. 24,1785*, Capt John Hough, of New London. Capt. Hough d. Feb. 8,1785.

Dr Franklin B. Hough, of Lowville, NY. writes me that Capt. John m. 1st Hannah Dennison, who lived with him sixty-four years (1718 to 1782), and that his 2nd wife lived with him two years. If he died in 1785 and Anna was then his wife for 2 years; they must have married in 1783.

Note: CC's data regarding Capt John Hough's marriage to the widow Baldwin must be in error....since Dr. Franklin's information states that they were together 2 years before his death in 1785. It is most probable that it was 1783; and I have changed my records to reflect this change.
