About Thomas Bor

"In 1768 the name of Bor is first found on the Grand Jury. Cornelius Bor, of Utrecht, who settled in Dublin in 1600, was the ancestor of the Ballindoolan family, other branches being settled at Bor Court, Co. Dublin, and Bormount Manor, in Wexford. The surname of the family has since been written and transcribed as both BOR and BORR" - Kirkpatrick Family Archives.

Sadleir's Pedigrees (National Library of Ireland GO MS 574) also gives Cornelius of Utrecht as ancestor of the Bors of Bor Court and Bormount Manor without tracing a line to Humphrey. 'The Family of Bor in Holland and Ireland' in 'Miscellanea Genealogica et Heraldica' suggests that Cornelius is unlikely to be an ancestor.

A genealogy in Betham's Sketch Pedigrees (National Library of Ireland GO MS 273) and Sadleir's Pedigrees (National Library of Ireland GO MS 576) has no Thomas, but has Edward and Christopher as sons of Humphrey, who was son of Christopher. The genealogy in 'The Family of Bor in Holland and Ireland' gives Thomas as a son of Humphrey, but seems to be in error in making Edward and Christopher sons of Thomas. A land deed of 1763 (Registry of Deeds no. 152014), made for the marriage of Edward Bor and Jane Peacock, makes it clear that Christopher and Edward Bor were sons of Humphry Bor, not of Thomas. A deed of 1726, executing the 1722 marriage settlement of Humphry Bor and Deborah Mills, makes provision for Thomas Bor, son of Humphry by a previous marriage (Registry of Deeds no. 34004). As Humphry is known to have been previously married to Elinor Dunne, Thomas was presumably Elinor's son. As Humphry's land seems to have eventually passed to Christopher and Edward, Thomas presumably had no son.

One of these sources refers to Thomas as of Park, Kinnegad.
