Thomas Brand 1717-1770 Married Lady Caroline Pierrepoint in 1749.
His Mother was Margaret Nicholl, herself the daughter of John and Margaret Nicholl. After John Nicholl`s death her mother married John Woolfe in Hertfordshire in 1694, who had a young son John Godden Woolfe by a previous marriage . John Woolfe was knighted in 1696 and was a Sherriff of London for one year in 1697.
Sir John and Dame Margaret Woolfe then had a son Marsh Woolfe and three daughters ,Mary, Lucy and Anne .Sir John died in 1704 and Dame Margaret in 1713.
Sir John had been a member of the Mercers Guild and was a successful and wealthy trader. Under his Will the main beneficiary was his eldest son John Godden Woolfe, who in his turn named his half-brother Marsh to inherit the family wealth . As Marsh died without issue in 1748, he left the entirety of the Woolfe family money to his nephew Thomas Brand, son of Marsh
s half-sister Margaret nee Nicholl.
