About Thomas R Brasher
Dates are best estimates only.
b/ ca 1798 Greenville Co, SC d/ aft 1 Jun 1870 (official census date), Shelby Co, AL
Not to be confused with his distant cousin, Thomas H. Brasher b/ 1798 SC who was also in Shelby Co, AL as of 1820. The 1820 Shelby Co, AL census refers to Thomas R. as "Junior" and Thomas H. as "Senior." The designations did not always mean father & son.
His name was Thomas R. Brasher, m1 Nancy RAY, before or ca 1819, SC or AL? She died around or shortly after childbirth in Oct. 1826.
m2 Nancy KENDRICK, 30 Aug 1827 Jefferson Co, AL
Children by 1st wife, Nancy Ray:
Probably: 1) 1 male b/ bet 1816-1820 2) 1 male b/ bet 1821-1825 3) Mary Emily (Polly) Brasher b/ Oct. 1826 d/ aft 1900
- *These are the unnamed children per the 1820 and 1830 Shelby Co, AL census records. The male b/ bet 1826-1830 would have to be John Milton Brasher, his first child by his 2nd wife, as he was born on 4 Jan 1830.
Children by 2nd wife, Nancy Kendrick:
1) John Milton 2) Isom (Tom) Harrison 3) Lewis Turner 4) Andrew Jackson 5) Judith 6) Nancy 7) John William Taylor (the "W. T. Brasher" who is also buried in this cemetery).

Parents: Samuel Brasher (ca 1774 SC-17 Nov 1822 Greenville Co, SC) and Mary Polly Long (ca 1785 SC-aft 1840 DeKalb Co, GA).
- Note: The Mary Polly Brasher in the 1840 Greenville Co, SC Census in the HH of widow Neomia Brasher is the daughter of Neomia, not our Mary who would be her sister in law. Mary, d/o Neomia never married and after Neomia's death, she is in the home of her brother, Henry. Our Mary is apparently in the 1840 DeKalb Co, GA home of Isaac Long Brasher. She probably died there before they moved to Shelby Co, AL.
Siblings: Sarah Brasher Gilliland (11 Mar 1800 SC-20 Aug 1862 Etowah Co, AL), #24312548 female b/ bet 1801-1810 SC (per 1830 Greenville Co, census)
- *female b/ bet 1801-1810 SC (per 1830 Greenville Co, census) Christian Brasher (bet 1803-1811 SC-aft 1860 Oktibbeha Co, MS)
- Moses Brasher (14 Jan 1806 SC-aft 1866 Shelby Co, AL) John J. Brasher (1808 SC-aft 1866 Tuscaloosa Co, AL)
- Elijah Brasher (ca 1810 SC-ca 1842 Shelby Co, AL) male b/ bet 1816-1820 SC (per 1830 Greenville Co, SC census) Isaac Long Brasher (ca 1817 SC-5 Jan 1889 Shelby Co, AL), #150213514 Seaborn "Sebe" Brasher (ca 1820 SC-Apr 1898 Shelby Co, AL), #54951702
- Probable sibling based on circumstantial clues and DNA evidence.
- I have a probable identity for this individual, but she is unproven.
