About Thomas Lambertsen Brink

Thomas married (1st) at Kingston Dutch Church (the banns being registered January 21, 1728), his cousin Francyntjen Schoonhoven, bt. Kingston 15 Nov 1696, daughter of Hendrick Claesse Schoonhoven and his wife Comelia Swartwout, who was sister to his mother Hendricke Swartwout.

Rumor came down in the family that three brothers came into Sussex County, New Jersey. These were the three Brinks, Pieter, Thomas, and Roelof, who moved there at different times, but were the earliest Brinks in New Jersey ( Pieter, and Pieter's nephews Thomas and Roelof,sons of Huybert). Nicholas Schoonhoven and Thomas Brink bought 1210 acres of land from Joseph Kirkbride on the elbow ofthe Delaware River near Walpack for speculation.

On 10 Oct 1725 from "History of Sussex Co., Co ofNJ" compiled by James P. Snell, pub.

ca 1881 and republished in 1981 by Genealogical Researchers, p. 316, the 1210 acres

was conveyed to Thomas Brink and Nicholas Schoonover in Morris Co., it lay in West NJ

upon the Delaware River, beginning at the mouth ofthe Flat Kill near a place called

Walpack. On p. 328 is recorded what Snell states is a verbatim copy ofthe original deed

by which "fore aachers moreso or les" for the church and burying ground, dated 1 Feb

1737, map in paper file, the men said to be brothers in law but not proven, Anjou in

Probate Rec p. 49 mentioned a brother of Franscyntjen, Nicolaes, bpt 3 June 1694. Presumably, Fransyntjen was the first person to be buried there.

Thomas Brink married (2nd) Antje Kleyn. Thomas' first two children, Nicholas and James, were on baptismal records at the Dutch Church of Kingston; Eve was probably born in Sussex Co. NJ; the children after Rachel's baptism in 1741, are in records of the Machackameck Minisink Dutch Church in Sussex Co., NJ.

The will of Thomas Brink, dated 8 Dec 1761 at Walpack, Sussex County, NJ; proved 25 Jun 1763;
