Biography

Thomas Gould (1654 - 1734)

Thomas Gould was born on 22 Feb 1654 in Newport, Rhode Island to parents Daniel Gould and Wait Coggeshall.

He married Elizabeth Mott, daughter of Jacob Mott and Joanna Slocum Mott of Portsmouth, Rhode Island on 13 March 1690. Children: Priscilla, Mercy, Daniel, Thomas, Joanna, Jacob, John, James.

Thomas Gould died in Newport, Rhode Island 11 Mar 1734 and was probably buried in the Friends Cemetery although there is no stone marking his burial.

From History of Newport County p 767: "Thomas Gould, the eldest son of Daniel, inherited the homestead. He married Elizabeth, daughter of Jacob and Joanna Mott of Portsmouth, January 13th, 1690, and died March 11th 1734. His wife died January 22, 1749, age 78 years."
