Obituary: Thomas Gordon Heelis By Deseret News Jul 12, 2000, 10:59am MDT

After years of strong dedication to family, friends, and church, Thomas Gordon Heelis Jr., 56, of Lindon passed away suddenly from an aneurysm on July 10, 2000.

He has departed from his wife, parents, brother and sisters, children and grandchildren with a loving legacy of unfaltering honesty and devotion uncommon among many in today's society.

All of us will remember his life as more than just a string of events but some of life's important milestones include his birth on December 28, 1943 to Arlene LeBaron and Thomas Gordon Heelis Sr. of Santaquin; his service in the Northern States mission from 1962 to 1964; his marriage to his beloved wife Debby on November 23, 1966; the birth of his children (with spouses) Jared (MiOak), Cindy (Todd) Dewey, Alicent (Brad) Manwaring, Saul (Carolee), Sasha (Chris) Shumway, Matt (Brei), Melanie, and Sue Bowman; and a loving relationship with his siblings (and spouses) Bonnie (Howard) Christensen, Dennis (Sherry) Heelis, Carla (Jim) DeGraffenried, Rosanne (Matthew) Thomas, Malea (Brad) Peterson; as well as his relationship with his mother and father-in-law, Carolyn Rayome and Sherwood Holt.

Tom loved visiting and spending time with his parents, children, and grandchildren, always volunteering to fix-up anything that needed it.

He very much enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and being close to nature.

He was a consummate doer and immersed himself in many active years of untiring service which he rendered unselfishly.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Lindon Sixth Ward Chapel, 25 North Main, Lindon, Utah.

Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the Lindon City Cemetery.

Into Heavenly Father's loving arms we commit the spirit of a man who passed away before his time leaving us with a beautiful example that will not tarnish until the day we are again reunited before the alter of our eternal Father in Heaven.
