Thomas Hinkley's great great grandfather is Giles Hopkins, who arrived on the Mayflower in 1620 with his father, Stephen Hopkins, and family. (Mercy6 in our Mayflower Families Through Five Generations, Vol. 6: Stephen Hopkins book, covering the accepted descendants of Stephen Hopkins).

Descendant of Governor Thomas Hinckley (1618 - April 25, 1706) was the governor of the Plymouth Colony and held several other governmental positions during his lifetime, including that of a representative, a deputy, magistrate, and assistant, among others. A monument, created in 1829 at the Lothrop Hill cemetery in Barnstable, Massachusetts, attests to his "piety, usefulness and agency in the public transactions of his time."
