Thomas Hurlburt

The name Hurlbert is spelled in different ways, Hurlbert, Hurlburt, Hulbut, Hurlbut, being among those most commonly used.

Thomas, son of Stephen Hurlbert, was born in Wethersfield, January 23, 1681. He was a farmer by occupation and spent his life in his native town. He married, January 11, 1705, Rebecca, daughter of John Meekins, of Wethersfield, or East Hartford, and granddaughter of the immigrant, John Biddle, of Hartford. He died April 10, 1761. His will was dated November 19, 1755, and left one-third of the estate to his wife during her life.

42) Thomas Hurlbut, (Stephen, Thomas) was born in Wethersfield, Connecticut, 23 January 16, 1681. He was a farmer, and settled in his native town. He married 11 January 1705, Rebecca Meekins, daughter of John Meekins of Wethersfield or East Hartford and granddaughter of the emigrant John Biddle, of Hartford. Mr. Hurlbut died 10 April 1761. His will was dated Wethersfield 19 November 1755 and proved in Court 25 April 1761. Inventory presented 14 June 1762. Estate L781. His son John of Hartford was executor. Wife Rebecca to receive 1/3 part of estate during life; but I have the date of her death 22 March 1760, before that of her husband.

81 Years.

On the day Thomas died he was 80 years old, and Ætatis suæ (i.e., Æ, "Aged," in the XX year of his Age) 81.

Jehiel B Hurlburt, farmer, teacher, California Argonaut, citizen, soldier and civil officer, was born in the town of Winchester, Litchfield county, Connecticut, June 1, 1828, in the sixth generation form English ancestry and is a son of Erastus G and Clairssa (Goodwin) Hurlburt, both natives of Hartford county, Connecticut, the father born in 1787. He traces his ancestry back to Thomas H Hurlburt, the immigrant who came from England in 1637: through Stephen (2) Thomas (3) Elijah (4) and Erastus G, the father of our subject. The immigrant ancestor was the father of five sons.
