Thomas Jackson Iredell

Thomas Iredell was the son of Robert Iredell (m: Ellinore Jackson).

He came from Horsham in Sussex, England, and tradition asserts that through him both the Meeting and Township received the name of Horsham. He was one of the first Over-seers of Horsham Friends Meeting. (in. 3.9.1705 in Arch Street (Philadelphia) Friends Meeting.)

The Iredells are one of the oldest families of eastern Pennsylvania. Thomas Iredell, the immigrant, arrived at Philadelphia the latter part of the year 1700 from Pardsay Cragg, Cumberland, England.

He married Rebecca Williams, in the Friends' meeting house, then at Second and Market streets, Philadelphia, 3d mo. 9, 1705.

According to the History of Montgomery County, PA, Mary Iredell Goode was not the daughter of Rebecca Williams Iredell and Thomas Iredell (b 1676), but of Thomas and his unnamed second wife.

Likewise, Mary Goode's four sisters are assigned to Thomas's unnamed 2nd wife. Rebecca Williams gave birth to Thomas and John; no more are listed, with "Robert, Abraham and five daughters" ascribed to the second wife.
