Robert Isham, the first of the family that suppressed the de before his name, d. in 1424, leaving a son,
Robert, of the age of 22 years. He m. Elizabeth, dau. and co-heir to Aston, of Knoston, alias Knuston, near Irchester, in Northamtonshire. He d. about the 14th of Edward IV., leaving, 1. William, his eldest son, of whom hereafter. 2. Robert, who was prebendary of Lincoln from 1467 to 1501. 3. Richard. 4. John.
William Isham, the eldest son of Robert, was one of those gentlemen of Northamptonshire to whom Rich. III. sent a letter, requiring a loan of (English pounds)40. His name likewise occurs upon other accounts, on the lists of the nobility and gentry of the county. He m. Elizabeth, widow of Thomas Braunspath, who d. 20 Sept., 18th Edward IV., and he d. 13 June, 2nd Henry VIII., 1510, leaving.

ELENA, dau. of Richard VERE, Esq. of Addington (by Isabella, his wife, dau., and at length heir, to John Green, Esq. of Drayton), and sister to Sir Henry Vere, sheriff of Northamptonshire, 1st Henry VII., who was the last heir male of that ancient and martial family, descended from Sir Robert de Vere, 2nd son of Aubrey de Vere, chief justiciary of England, and brother to Aubrey de Vere, first of the name, Earl of Oxford; his eldest dau. and co-heir, Elizabeth, became the wife of John, the first Lord Mordaunt, ancestor to the Earl pf Peterborough. The issue that came of it were Euseby, John, and Henry. Henry Isham was in the unforunate expedition of the Emperor Charles V. to Algiers, 1541. He m. Anne, relict of William Scot, and dau. and co-heir of Thomas Fogge, serjeant porter of Calais, by whom he had, Edward Isham, whose dau. and heir, Mary, was the wife of Sir George Parkins, Knt. of Bunny, in Nottinghamshire.
