About Thomas Joslin
According to "Notes on the Josselyn Family, of Massachusetts," published in 2014, Thomas "was probably the son of Abraham and Beatrice Josselyn."[1] An article published earlier reports that "Thomas, blacksmith,...was a juror at Plymouth, July 1680...living in Little Compton 1686."
Mary and Thomas Joslin released all rights to David Vaughan's will on December 14, 1681.
The 1694 quitclaim Thomas jointly filed with Abraham and Beatrice's sons, his brothers Henry and Joseph, confirms the familial relationships.[2]
Thomas Joslin was born Abt. January 1657/58 in Scarborough, Cumberland County, Maine,[citation needed] and died 1722 in East Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island. He married MARY VAUGHN December 21, 1681 in Kent County, Rhode Island. She was born in Newport County, Rhode Island, and died 1701 in Kingston, Washington County, Rhode Island. (or abt 24 Aug 1720) Source needed for death, conflicting information found) Mary Vaughn was the widow of David Vaughn.
Mary's maiden name is unknown. Many trees and genealogies give her surname as Mott. Legal documents prove that Mary Mott was married to David's brother John. Other trees refer to her as Mary Stockbridge but there was no adult Mary Stockbridge in the area. No sources for the last name of Stockbridge has been found including Stockbridge Genealogy, Vaughan and Joslin genealogies. David Austin has her last name as Unknown, as do other quality sources.
Children of THOMAS JOSLIN and MARY VAUGHN are:
THOMAS JOSLIN, b. 1682.
ISAAC JOSLIN, b. 1684.
SAMUEL JOSLIN, b. 1686.
HENRY VAUGHN JOSLIN, b. 1696.
