Thomas Matson, Jr. build a saw mill near his house provided it did not obstruct the highway. This was near the mouth of Roaring Brook river. Thomas Matson was in the lumber business and went up the river and bought logs and rafted them down the river to a place they called log landing. He sold out about 1801 and moved to Owego NY with his three sons and three daughters.
