"Sir John, who got a charter under the great seal from king James IV. Johanni Maxwell de Nether Pollock, of the lands of Henrystoun, &c. &c. dated 8th July 1495...

...He had the honour of knighthood conferred upon him by king James IV. and married a daughter of the family of Houston of that ilk, by whom he had only one daughter, Elizabeth, his sole heiress...

...He died in the end of the reign of king James V. and was succeeded by his only child."
