Government Land Surveyor [ Cape Colony and Transvaal] Educated Diocesan College. Came to Mosselbay in 1906; Address: Mosel Bay (South African Who's Who 1916)
[ http://www.discover-sedgefield-south-africa.com/sedgefield-history.... - is this the same Thomas Dunbar?] "In 1926 Salmon allowed Thomas Dunbar Moodie an option to purchase but while Moodie was laying out the plans for Sedgefield township, Terblans defaulted on a bond. The Thesens being the main bond holders recovered Moodie’s unsecured land in the reclamation process in 1928. Charlie Thesen however, held Moodie in high regard and rewarded him for his work. They became life-long friends."
Query: In 'The Friends of Rietvlei' it states that Thomas Dunbar was the husband of Susara Margarita Erasmus, but I think that this is incorrect. The Moodie Book states that Susara married Thomas Dreyer Moodie (son of Groot Tom and Cecilia); and Susara's brother Daniel married Thomas Dreyer's sister Johanna Maria. I believe that this may be a more likely scenario.
Thomas Dunbar Moodie (6 Jun 1880- ); married Susara Margrietha Erasmus (daughter of Michiel Christiaan Elardus Erasmus & Anna Susanna, born Opperman; Susara's brother Daniël Elardus Erasmus married Johanna Maria Moodie, dau of 'Groot Tom' and Cecilia). Issue: (1) Johanna Maria Moodie; m. Daniel Elardus Erasmus (possible that she is T's sister-in-law, rather than daughter?); (2) Tom Moodie; (3) Sarah Moodie; (4) Harriet Moodie, m. N Mears; (5) James Moodie.
